The Doyen of the French Boogie Woogie pianists is active since the 1960s. He was a close friend of U. S. pianist Memphis Slim, who lived in Paris for many years and became the big idol of Jean-Paul. This was documented by joint recordings. Amouroux’s trade mark is his almost classical approach to the piano. Since 1998, he is the musical director of the biggest French Boogie Woogie festival at La Roquebrou.
