The Hamburg Boogie Woogie Connection 2023
Fabrik, Tuesday, August 8th, 2023
35 years of The Hamburg Boogie Woogie Connection! The mother of the international Boogie Woogie festivals keeps on delighting with the blues-honed cheerfulness of these forever-young, untamed pianorhythms, which brought the roll to the rock. Eight piano virtuosi at two grand pianos will unleash their improvisational spirits!
Julien Brunetaud has been awarded the best French Blues pianist, he will perform at the „Fabrik“ for the first time. Also, „Boogiekathi“ Katharina Alber from Tyrolia, Austria, will charm Hamburg’s audience. There will be a happy return of Keito Saito, Japan’s Boogie Woogie pianist number one, who impressed at the Fabrik several times before with his sensitive virtuosity. Thomas Scheytt from Freiburg, Germany, will have his debut at The Hamburg Boogie Woogie Connection with his elaborate Blues- and Boogie sounds, as well as Thomas „Piano“ Schulze, hailing from Berlin’s Prenzlauer „Boogieberg“. Guenther Brackmann is a fix star of Hamburg’s Blues- and Boogiescene, performing the first time as a soloist at the Fabrik Boogiefestival. Jo Bohnsack enthralls the audience with his North Sea-steeled New Orleans- and Louisiana-Bluesgrooves ever since the first Hamburg Boogie Woogie Connection on 8.8.88. Last but not least host Axel Zwingenberger will celebrate his 50th Boogie Woogie stage anniversary also on the 8.8. at the Fabrik – the legend of the international Blues and Boogie Woogie-piano scene!
