Henning loves Blues piano, and he shaped his style after the early Barrel House pianist as well as the sounds of the "Father" of the early Chicago Boogie Woogie scene, Jimmy Yancey. But "stranger" sounds, as used by Thelonious Monk or Axel Zwingenberger, can also be detected in Henning’s music. From this, he created his own, gripping and relaxed piano sound.
In 2017 he won the "German Blues Award" as best Blues pianist.
